Grive is a thrush; from vines replanted in 2005 in the villages portion of Monts Luisants

A more elegant and really quite pretty nose combines notes of the essence of red cherry, spice, wet stone and a floral suggestion. The succulent and vibrant medium weight flavours also possess both a lovely mouthfeel and good detail that extends to the dusty, moderately austere and chiseled finale that offers better depth. Lovely and worth a look. Outstanding.

The 2023 Morey-Saint-Denis Cuvée des Grives has quite an extravagant, floral bouquet with crushed strawberry, star anise and blood orange scents. It seems to calm down nicely in the glass after that initial burst. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, quite harmonious with a dash of black pepper and clove on the finish. Afford this Morey a couple of years in bottle.

All from the village section of Monts Luisants at the top of the hill. Planted in 2006. A richer fuller purple in colour, though still with a slightly shrill youthful fresh red berry fruit on the nose. There is tension on the palate, more raspberry than redcurrant, but the acidity is still quite prominent. Drink from 2028-2032.

Clear Ruby. Lovely nose of sour cherries, spice, a little minty. Delicious, cool fruit with good concentration, some richness - mineral and complex. Really liked this.
