A large vineyard area of grand cru of which Echezeaux du Dessus is the favoured spot - where the majority of Mongeard-Mugneret vines are situated. The oldest vines have now been separated into the cuvée Grande Complication - but the age and quality is still very high here.
Deeper, concentrated ruby colour. Gently spicy nose, presenting bright red fruit. On the attack more lovely silky red fruit, juicy, savoury - good mid-palate with very smooth tannins. Long cherry finish with a little salt and minerality. I Like this a lot!

Du Dessous, next to GE. Deeper colour. Here with a glossy width of darker fruit - no overt barrel in this case. Extra in the mouth - extra complex, extra mobile and extra concentrated - the way the wine and flavours move over the palate keeps plenty of energy. Hmm - that's a proper - almost chewy - intensity of finishing flavour, modest bitter chocolate finishing flavours pack out this complexity. That will be super - but don't touch it for 8-10 years.
