A slightly more deeply pitched nose of plum and black cherry also displays floral top notes. On the palate there is excellent vibrancy and definition while the medium-bodied flavours deliver solid depth and persistence on the dusty, serious and lingering finale. Grasses Têtes almost always produces wines with good acidity and this example is consistent with that. Outstanding. 90-92 Burghound.
A rich dense ruby purple. The nose is not especially forthcoming but I sense a density of darker fruit here. Very intense on the palate, with firm tannins which are well integrated, and a wealth of dark raspberry and boysenberry fruit, maintaining freshness. Very good. Drink from 2027-2030. **** 89-90 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy.
Aromas of cassis, vine smoke and orange zest introduce the 2023 Marsannay Les Grasses Têtes, a medium to full-bodied, rich and sensual wine with a sweet, succulent core of fruit girdled by lively acids and powdery tannins. 90-91 William Kelley, Wine Advocate.
The 2023 Marsannay Les Grasses Têtes has a slightly more opulent bouquet than other cuvées, though it's nicely controlled, with candied orange peel tincturing the blackcurrant pastille scents. The palate is medium-bodied with a little more oak on the entry, fine depth, smooth texture and a touch of brown spice on the finish. Drink over six to eight years. 88-90 Neal Martin.
