2023, Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron, NUITS-SAINT-GEORGES, 1er Cru, 'Aux Boudots'

$268

Crimson purple. The livelier of the two Nuits 1ers Crus, with red and black fruit harmonising on both nose and palate. Fills the mouth with a slightly livelier acidity at the back and notably refined tannins. Long, balanced and fine. Fluid in a good sense! Drink from 2030-2036.

The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Boudots 1er Cru had been racked the day before my visit. Like the Chaboeufs, there is a marine influence on the nose, with touches of seaweed percolating through the black cherry and boysenberry fruit. There is mineralité here but it takes time to surface. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins. This is very well balanced with just the right acidity. It feels very harmonious and persistent on the finish. Bon vin.

Deep ruby, strawberries, vanilla. 50% new oak, spicy floral nose. Pleasing, floral, round mouth-feel. Well structured. Fine texture. Louis says "a big density here".
