2023, Domaine Jean-Luc Burguet, GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN, 'Mes Favorites'
Moderate reduction overshadows the fruit at present. Once again there is good verve and freshness if barely average density to the medium weight flavours that possess more evident structure on the dusty, youthfully austere and acceptably long finish. This is perfectly good but perhaps not at its usual level of excellence. 88-90 Burghound (2025).
The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Mes Favorites offers notable textural depth and resonance. It boasts a compelling mix of layered fruit and the vibrant, focused style Jean-Luc Burguet favours these days. There's gorgeous vibrancy and drive here. It's a new, updated style for Mes Favorites but one I like a great deal. 90-92 Antonio Galloni.
Mes Favorite is the bigger of the village wines mostly located alongside the southern part of the village above the main road - near the Henri Richard estate. Quite deep clay soil that translates into a rich and generous village. Has a massale character and is elegant and refined. Slight reduction at tasting ... but could also become a favourite here in the Winehog home. Fine. 91 Steen Ohman, Winehog.
