80% whole bunch vinification with 6 new barrels out of 9. A fine dense purple. Here the nose is less explosive but clearly but clearly suggests concentration. With time some dense dark berry fruit and some peonies start to emerge. On the palate the 2022 Echezeaux is really complex with a few little chocolate notes merging with pinpricks of fresh red fruits, with a long fine finish and a fresh acidity to finish. Drink from 2032-2040. **** 94-97 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy.
The 2022 Echézeaux Grand Cru includes 80% whole bunches like the Aux Brûlées but they are much less evident and here the terroir floods through: red berry fruit, potpourri and light loamy aromas. Fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant, finely chiseled tannins, clean and precise with a linear, "cool" finish. This should age very well in bottle and retains a sense of classicism that I appreciate. 93-95 Neal Martin, Vinous.
Here too there is a subtle oak influence to the spiced plum and wonderfully broad array of floral elements, especially violet and rose petal. The lilting and refined middleweight flavours possess outstanding punch while retaining impeccable balance on the superbly long finish that is supported by dense but fine-grained tannins. This is terrific and is an Ech of finesse. 92-95 Burghound.
The 2022 Echézeaux Grand Cru is expressive, bursting with aromas of smoky berries, potpourri, orange zest and plums. Medium to full-bodied, broad and enveloping, with velvety tannins and a lively core of fruit, it concludes with a melting, saline finish. 92-94 William Kelley, Wine Advocate.
