2022, Domaine Samuel Billaud, BOURGOGNE, Côte d'Or

$63

The 2022 Bourgogne d'Or, a blend between Mâcon Nord and Auxerrois, has a fragrant nose with hints of melted butter and yellow flowers and a touch of vanilla pod in the background. The palate is well-balanced with a pleasant "bite" on the entry, fresh and tangy, with a hint of marmalade on the finish. 87 Neal Martin, Vinous.

The 2022 Bourgogne Chardonnay is the usual blend of Auxerrois and Mâconnais must, and it has turned out nicely, delivering aromas of pears, apples, white flowers and fresh bread, followed by a medium-bodied, ample and fleshy palate that's pure and charming, nodding more to the south than the north this year. 87 William Kelley, Wine Advocate (2023).

Attractive wine with quite a bit of colour, good acidity and apple fruit character. 50% of the grapes from north of Mâcon, 50% Chablis from Auxerre. 89 Andy Howard MW, Decanter (2023).

Drinking Window: 2023 - 2027
