Second wine of chateau La Gaffelière a 38 hectare estate is situated below Ausone and close to Pavie on the limestone south-facing slopes of Saint Emilion. Owned by the Malet Roquefort family.

The 2020 Clos La Gaffelière is a super attractive second wine. It is a bit darker and more overt than the Grand Vin, both of which lend quite a bit of immediacy. Black cherry, plum, spice, chocolate and leather build nicely in the glass. This supple, juicy Saint-Émilion will drink well right out of the gate. 91-93 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Concentrated with a ton of spice, bright and powerful dark cassis and bilberry fruit, and a saline kick on the finish. One of the real value wines of the vintage, has a huge sense of character, great architecture, and silky tannins. 94 Jane Anson.

Dark and ripe on the nose, tangy and fresh, a lovely clean, crisp aspect to the strawberry, red cherry and creamy vanilla blueberries giving freshness and cool minerality. Well delivered, has a style about this with definition and detail and above all really appealing acidity that gives lift and a lot of life.
