2022, Château Bourgneuf, POMEROL

Bordeaux Blend: Merlot, Cabernet Franc.

The 2022 Bourgneuf is a dark, sumptuous wine. Black cherry, gravel, spice, licorice and dried herbs are all finely delineated in a Pomerol that offers tons of richness as well as energy. All the classic Bourgneuf signatures are beautifully dialed up. Over the last few vintages in particular, Bourgneuf has been quite a bit richer texturally than in the past. Offering up aromas of sweet blackberries and cherries mingled with licorice, violets and black truffle, the 2022 Bourgneuf is medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with a fleshy core of fruit, supple tannins and a long, resonant finish. From nine hectares of holdings situated below Trotanoy and next to La Cabanne, much of which are characterized by clay-rich gravels, this promising property, now working with consultant Thomas Duclos, is really beginning to exploit all its potential. 93-94 William Kelley, Wine Advocate.

A rich and bold Bourgneuf, this is full-bodied and pretty with slightly dried fruit, with velvety polished tannins. 85% merlot and 15% cabernet franc. 94-95 James Suckling.
