2017, Domaine Thierry Voilot-Guillemard, BEAUNE, 1er Cru, 'Clos des Mouches', Rouge

Cool aromas of various red berries, lavender and earth hints. The energetic and well-delineated medium-bodied flavours possess a lovely texture that carries over to the dusty, linear and nicely persistent finish. This should benefit from a few years of bottle age in order to better flesh out. 90/100 Burghound.

The 2017 Beaune Clos des Mouches Rouge offers smudged brambly red fruit on the nose, which is quite open already; rose petals become more and more noticeable with aeration. The lively palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin, citrus fruit, orange peel and crushed strawberry towards the finish. I like the persistence on display here. This is a well-crafted, quite delicious Clos des Mouches. 92/100 Neal Martin, Vinous.
