2015, Château Doisy-Daenes, BARSAC, 2ème Cru Classé, Grand Vin de Sauternes

$96

The 2015 Doisy-Daëne has a very refined bouquet, extremely pure with honey, white flowers, touches of quince and beeswax. This is classy, refined and sophisticated. The palate is very well defined with a fine bead of acidity, fresh and vibrant with a precise and quite persistent finish that is very classy. Superb. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting. 96 Neal Martin, Vinous.

The 2015 Doisy-Daëne is compellingly beautiful. Beams of crushed rocks, petrol, lime and white flowers give the 2015 distinct Riesling-like inflections. Candied citrus, passion fruit and a host of more tropically-leaning notes develop in the glass. Creamy, textured and yet also light on its feet, the 2015 is a wine of total precision and class. 95 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.

Bright sparkling flavours here, the luscious richness well balanced with lime zest, saffron and citrus. It will suit lovers of botrytis-rich Sauternes without going over the top. Very good. 94 Jane Anson, Decanter.

Has real Barsac typicity in its finesse and reticence, with elegant citrus aromas and alluring clarity of fruit. The attack is gentle, with charming apricot fruit but not a great deal of complexity. 92 Stephen Brook, Decanter.
