Peter Maude Fine Wines

2021, Maison Jean-Claude Boisset, CHASSAGNE-MONTRACHET, 1er Cru, 'Morgeot'

$260

In the southern part of the Côte de Beaune Chassagne-Montrachet shares with Puligny the uncontested title of the prince of the world's dry white wines - the divine Montrachet. This fine, broad hillside brings out the very highest expression of the Chardonnay grape. The Morgeot climate is on the departmental border between the Côte d'Or and the Saône-et-Loire.

With its lovely pale yellow colour, this wine releases aromas of ripe white fruit, floral notes and a touch of oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and charming, with a tangy finish. Domaine notes.

Tank sample. Regal and savoury on the nose. Really rather magnificent. Throbs with excitement and undertow. Great balance. 17.5+ Jancis Robinson.
