Chateau Faugeres has a long history in St. Emilion dating back to 1619 when the vineyard was cultivated by Andre de Faugeres. Silvio Denz made the decision to buy the vineyard with the help and advice of Stephan von Neipperg who also consults on the vineyard at Chateau Faugeres along with Michel Rolland. Aside from Chateau Faugeres,in Bordeaux, Silvio Denzo also owns Peby Faugeres in Saint Emilion and Cap de Faugeres in the Cotes de Castillon (see following wine).

Velvet ruby in colour, intense and concentrated, as is on brand for this estate, with careful extraction keeping things in line. Clear reduction right now, but as it opens you get creamy fruit, edges of fresh mushroom, and a welcome bitter mint-chocolate finish. Vincent Cruège technical director, Silvio Denz owner. 93 Jane Anson, Decanter.

The 2022 Faugeres is one of the most vibrant, nuanced wines I have tasted from from the property. Expressive floral and savory top notes meld into a core of racy red-toned fruit. 93-95 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.

The 2022 Faugères was tasted twice, the second sample showing much more freshness on the nose with blackberry, wild strawberry and licorice aromas. The oak is nicely incorporated. The palate is well balanced with fine tannins, lively with cedar and white pepper. It's fairly Left Bank in style on the structured finish. Good potential. 91-93 Neal Martin, Vinous.

Drinking Window: 2027 - 2042
