2019, La Chablisienne, CHABLIS, 1er Cru, 'Fourchaume'

$64

A notably riper and overtly exotic nose leads to bigger and richer medium-bodied flavours that possess fine depth on the lingering finish that isn't quite as energetic. This plush effort should easily drink well early on. 89-92 Burghound.

The 2019 Chablis Fourchaume 1er Cru is showing a bit of unnecessary wood on the nose, though that should be subsumed with bottle age. The palate is ripe and rounded with tropical notes on the entry. This is quite a "fat" Fourchaume vis-à-vis its peers and reveals a slight lack of tension on the finish. Still, there is fine focus and concentration, so enjoy this in its youth. 89 Neal Martin.
