2018, Charles van Canneyt, VOLNAY, 1er Cru, 'Santenots'

The vineyard of Les Santenots does in fact lie completely within Meursault (right up against Volnay 1er cru Caillerets), but retains the cross-border courtesy title of Volnay as it is mostly planted with red vines and Meursault are all white. There is noticeably more clay in the soil giving the wines a full body and rich texture. We suspect that Charles could be buying off Domaine Y. Clerget as the winemaker Thibaud apprenticed under Charles at Hudelot-Noellat.
