2023-clos-de-tart-grand-cru-monopole
2023, Clos de Tart, Grand Cru, 'MONOPOLE'

Quite a full purple colour, very even across the glass. The bouquet has an aromatic quality not too dissimilar in profile to the village wine, with the precision of the 1er Cru and significantly more depth of flavour than either. This is hauntingly fine and may escape from the powerful, even foursquare, image of Clos de Tart which one seems to get whoever is making the wine. There is a deep liquid darker raspberry fruit, even a touch of liquorice, very refined tannins and excellent persistence. Seamless. This is what Alessandro has been looking for since he started! This is the most exciting Clos de Tart of the new regime! Tasted Nov 2024
***** (5 stars) 96-99 Jasper Morris MW

The 2023 Clos de Tart Grand Cru, which contains 50% whole bunch, has an exquisite bouquet that is understated at first, opening with Dorset plum, raspberry, graphite and violets, the latter becoming more prominent with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with finely sculpted tannins. There is pleasing fluidity to this Clos de Tart with a very harmonious satin-textured finish lent edge by assiduous whole bunch addition. What a lovely Grand Cru, one that just needs two or three years in bottle.
96 Neal Martin, Vinous.

Although it is still maturing, the 2023 blend for the Clos de Tart is the very image of a grand vin, with pronounced fruit aromas of mulberry and black cherry fruit touched with pepper, ginger and mint. The texture is silky and approachable, yet there is no lack of underlying tannins. Each parcel within the Clos is fermented separately, some as whole clusters and some destemmed; the extraction is managed to avoid astringency. The wine is ageing in cask, half new. The finished wines should be approachable reasonably young, but will undoubtedly age for decades.
96 Charles Curtis MW, DECANTER.

Much broader aroma (than La Forge), slightly cushioned and slightly more stony – gradually lifting with some rose-petal references. In the mouth, more direct and sinuous – filling the mouth in all directions, and of course, with much more juicy energy. The finish is open, saline and has a wonderful shimmer of flavour and clarity of flavour. Drinkable for sure – but a great wine only from about 15 years old – better, more than 20 !!
Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report.

Drinking window: 2030 - 2070

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0515/1889/8336/files/peter-maude-fine-wines-france-new-zealand-clos-de-tart-grand-cru_1d305999-18ef-4f85-8b34-ee7b20a35ab0.jpg?v=1792371402
