There are 25 barrels of 2022 Bonnes Mares, an ideal yield of 35 hl/ha. Rich, bright and concentrated. Super explosive right from the start. Wears its heart on its sleeve unlike the more introverted Clos de Bèze. A magical concentration of fruit, first at the front of the palate and then at the back. A little spice as well, something of everything. Generous but not over the top at 13.5%. ***** 96-98 Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy (2023).

Once again very firm reduction renders the nose impossible to read. Otherwise, there is excellent delineation and a subtle minerality to the remarkably concentrated and tautly muscular large-scaled flavours that culminate in an incredibly long if very, very backward, austere and compact finale. This is an old school Bonnes Mares that is built for the very long haul and a 20 year aging curve would not surprise me. This is terrific but I would strongly suggest buying it only with the express intent of basically forgetting you own it. 93-96 Burghound (2024).

The 2022 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is beautiful, wafting from the glass with scents of sweet red berries, rose petals, Indian spices, plums and vine smoke. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless, it's bright and pure, with melting tannins and a long, mouthwatering finish. The Clairs have begun experimenting with grafting over their vines in this climat, beginning with 150, to superior quality vine genetics. 93-95 William Kelley, Wine Advocate (2024).
