2019, Maison Benjamin Leroux, MEURSAULT, 1er Cru, "Les Genevrieres" Dessous
The 2019 Meursault Genevrières-Dessus 1er Cru will only be bottled in magnum. This has more complexity on the nose compared to the Meursault Genevrières, displaying heightened mineralité, and revealing touches of white peach and nectarine with time. The palate is very well balanced with more noticeable oak, partly because this was aged in a single one-year-old barrel. Hopefully that oak will be integrated after racking. 89-92/100 Neal Martin, Not yet racked.
This will only be available in magnum. This glows in all the senses, both the colour and the concentration of fruit on the nose. More generous than the regular, seemingly softer, but pre racking, and exceptionally long. Not always the case, but a definite preference here this year. 93-96/100 Jasper Morris, MW.
