2019, Domaine Pierre Guillemot, SAVIGNY-LES-BEAUNE, "Le Dessus de Gollardes" Blanc
The white is an interesting wine planted from cuttings from Henri Gouge's Pinot Blanc, growing alongside Chardonnay just north of the village. Brilliant for blind-tastings as well as excellent drinking.
Composed entirely of Pinot Blanc this year, the 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune Dessus les Gollardes Blanc opens in the glass with aromas of fresh pear, acacia blossom, almond oil and citrus zest. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and incisive, with chalky dry extract, it's a touch more chiseled than the more gourmand, enveloping 2018 rendition.

Fresh lemon with the lightest of green touches. I adore the nose of this cuvée, which has the lightest of liquorice inflections, mixing in really well with the full yellow plum, but not peachy aromas. Soft rich finish, now more white fruit, and a faint mandarin tingle. **** 88-91 Jasper Morris MW
