Peter Maude Fine Wines
2019, Château Teyssier, SAINT-ÉMILION, Grand Cru
From sandy soils on the plain near Monbousquet, the 2019 Teyssier exhibits aromas of raspberries, plums and cherries, framed by creamy oak. Medium to full-bodied, rich but lively, with polished tannins and a ripe core of fruit, it's a fruit-driven, demonstrative Saint-Émilion that will drink well young. 90 William Kelley, Wine Advocate.
The 2019 Teyssier sports a medium to deep garnet-purple colour and very pretty scents of black raspberries, redcurrant jelly and plum preserves with hints of cinnamon toast, red roses and tilled loam. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is elegantly played, offering soft tannins and seamless freshness to support the perfumed red and black fruits, finishing with a whisper of earthiness. Teyssier is from the JCP Maltus portfolio of skillfully crafted Saint-Émilion wines. Neil White is the head winemaker and Thomas Duclos is a consultant here. 91-93 Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate.
Teyssier does a great job of punching above its weight, and offers excellent value once again. Deep damson in colour, with a spicy start that creates impact, followed by clear berry fruits. This is an enjoyable Teyssier, and although fairly high in alcohol it manages it well, offset by a confident frame. 89 Jane Anson, Decanter.
