2017, La Chablisienne, CHABLIS, 1er Cru, 'MONTMAINS'

The 2017 Chablis Montmains 1er Cru is one of the more supple 1er Crus in this lineup. Apricot, peach, yellow flowers and light tropical notes all grace a sensual, open-knit Chablis that will drink well with minimal cellaring. Bright acids add a lovely kick of energy to balance things out. This is very nicely done. 92 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.

Another high point of the range is the 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Montmains, some 95% of which derives from the clay-rich soils of Butteaux. Opening up to reveal notes of green apple, oyster shell, pear and white flowers, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with a reserved, blocky but nicely balanced profile. This will demand a little patience. 92+ William Kelley.
