2017, Domaine Pierre Guillemot, CORTON, Grand Cru, 'Le Rognet', Grand Cru, Rouge

Vincent Guillemot has used 70% whole bunch fermentation in 2017 for structure. Good density, rich purple, the nose takes a bit of teasing out, this has an extra weight, a little bit of black fruit but predominantly dark raspberry, with plenty of layers waiting to be teased out. Here come the ripe cherries now. Easy and graceful. **** 92/100 Jasper Morris, MW.

The 2017 Corton Le Rognet et Corton Grand Cru is very promising, revealing a complex bouquet of strawberries, plums, mossy soil and burnt orange rind, followed by a medium to full-bodied, attractively layered and concentrated wine for the vintage, with juicy acids and a light framing of chewy tannins. It should develop well in bottle. 90-92+/100 William Kelley.
