Peter Maude Fine Wines

2017, Domaine Alain Burguet, GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN, 'Mes Favorites', Magnum 1500mL

Always good. 50% new oak. Very fine bouquet. Lovely intensity of sweet fruit. Very elegant, rich and a lot going on here. Very Moreish. Lovely long finish. EXC +(+) P Maude 16/07/18

The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Mes Favorites Vieilles Vignes, the top village wine here, is terrific. Rose petal, lavender, spice and a core of red/purplish berry fruit all resonate on the palate. Aromatically intense and persistent, with tons of class, the Favorites is shaping up to be a winner from brothers Eric and Jean-Luc Burguet. 89-91 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

A softly oaked nose consists of slightly cooler aromas of red currant, newly turned earth, humus and a whiff of the sauvage. There is a bit more volume and mid-palate concentration to the more mineral-inflected flavours that deliver much better depth and persistence on the balanced finale. This is a very good Gevrey villages that is well worth considering. Outstanding Top value. 89-92 Burghound.
