Subdued but complex nose offers raspberry, currant and smoked meat. Rich, plump and sweet but with a firm acid backbone and solid underlying minerality giving shape to this rather large-scaled and mouth-filling wine. Finishes broad and long, with suave tannins. The 2005 Château Latour-à-Pomerol is no more, no less, than a very beautiful Pomerol that is only just beginning to flex its muscles. It has a divine nose of blackberry, bilberry, warm gravel and a sprig of wild mint all with very fine delineation. The palate is initially supple in the mouth, but watch out because there is real backbone and structure to this Pomerol. What I most admire is the lucidity of this wine. There is brightness, you could almost say a sense of gaiety, not a word I often attribute to this cru. It still needs to knit together on the finish but otherwise, expect greatness from this tour de force Pomerol in the future. \u003cstrong\u003e94 Neal Martin, Vinous (2016)\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis is a beautiful wine from Latour à Pomerol, an estate which seems to be going from strength to strength under the renewed vigour and leadership of Christian Moueix and his winemaking team. Their 2005 offers gorgeous black cherry and truffle-infused fruit with hints of caramel, mocha and spice. The wine is medium to full-bodied and rich, with velvety tannin, a multi-layered texture, and a long, long finish. It is approaching full maturity, where it should stay for 10-15 years. \u003cstrong\u003e94 Robert M.
