Domaine Morey-Blanc

Meursault

Domaine Morey-Blanc is primarily a very high quality white wine producer but it does also make a few reds from a total of 10 hectares of vineyards. Originally share-croppers or metayers for the Domaine des Comte Lafon, Pierre called an end to that operation in 1990 when he set-up a small negociant business.

Pierre was appointed manager of Domaine Leflaive and along with his own winemaking combined these skills with great affect. The Morey- Blanc wines have been organic since 1992 and biodynamic since 1997. The name of Morey-Blanc came about not because it referenced 'white wine' but because Pierre married a nee Blanc. His daughter is now involved in the business as the buyer of fruit for the negociant side.

Pierre is well known to be a skilful and diligent winemaker who goes to great lengths to seek the elusive equilibrium between sugar and acidity to achieve the balance and finesse he desires in the final product . He doesn't bottle his wines until 12 to 20 months after vintage, depending on the cru.
