Domaine Geantet Pansiot
Gevry-Chambertin
Vincent Geantet is in charge of the 12 hectare domaine in Gevrey-Chambertin, having taken over from his father in 1982. And since 2006 Vincent's own son Fabien has joined him to contribute to a label that has gained prestige under Vincent's reign and is widely acclaimed as a consistent producer of very high quality wines.
The one grand cru of the domaine is Charmes-Chambertin and their vines are located in the finest part of the vineyard. Their plot in Gevry-Chambertin En Champ boasts some of the oldest vines in Burgundy having been planted in 1903 - 90% still remain today. In total, the domaine produces 13 crus including three whites.
Vincent has steadily improved the wines since 1982; the grapes are carefully selected and destemmed. One-third new wood is used and bottling is done after 12 months ageing with no fining or filtration. The wines are very perfurmed and intensely flavoured; the Charmes-Chambertin is very rich with explosive flavours and wonderful texture. The Burghound is very high in his praise of Geantet-Pansiot and in particular the 2009 vintage, describing them as: "...the best wines ever seen from the domaine."
