Domaine Bruno Clavelier
Vosne-Romanée, Côtes-de-Nuîts, Bourgogne, France
The domaine has 11 crus in total on just 5.8 hectares produced by this high quality Domaine which Bruno Clavelier leases from his family. Bruno assumed control of the Domaine from his maternal grandparents in 1987 when 23 years old, and has since enlarged the Domaine into Nuits-St-Georges, Gevrey-Chambertin and more lately Corton.
The Domaine is now officially certified biodynamic and practices 90% destemming at harvest, up to 35% use of new oak for its premier crus and 15-20% for the village wines. There is minimal intervention during vinification with Bruno intent on the wines expressing the terroir. The resultant wines which come from very old, low-yielding vines, are very perfumed, rich and spectacular in repect of overall quality.
Well-known wine critic 'The Burghound' has referred to Domaine Bruno Clavelier as an address to be included on the list for those in search of wines that are both 'elegant and refined.' In particular, he describes the 2011 Chambolle-Musigny "La Combe d'Orveau" 1er Cru as 'understated and zen-like effort that oozes class.'
