Mostly they grow Grenache and some of their vines are among the oldest in Chateauneuf du Pape (120 years old). The terroir is loam, limestone, rock and sandy soils. They also own 70 hectares of vines in the Cotes du Rhone appellation. Andre Brunel Les Cailloux produces two red Chateauneuf du Pape's and one Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc.
The Les Cailloux standard Chateauneuf du Pape is usually a blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 12% Syrah and 3% of different grape varieties with an average vine age of 60 years. usually they destem about 70% and after fermentation the Grenache is aged in enamel coated vats. Their Syrah and Mourvedre are aged in 1 – 3 year-old small barrels - average ageing in vat or barrel is 15/20 months depending on the vintage and blend percentages.
