2020, Domaine de la Vougeraie, VOSNE-ROMANÉE 'Aux Champs Pedrix" 1500ml Magnum

$378

From 50-55 year old vines uphill from La Tache and adjacent to Aux Reignots. The domaine purchased their first slice of Vosne-Romanée in 2015. Only bottled in magnums.

100% whole bunch in this small cuvée. The nose is light and flighty, high on the hill, no great substance to start, but then it surprises in the mouth with the tensile strength. Little alpine strawberries, very pretty. **** 90-93/100, Jasper Morris MW.

The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Aux Champs Perdrix contains 100% whole bunch this year, the stems neatly enmeshed on the nose that has fine clarity. The palate is medium-bodied with a pastille-like entry, vibrant red berry fruit laced with orange zest and quince, quite lively and "playful" towards the finish. This is delightful. 90-92/100, Neal Martin.

Floral suffused nose of spicy red berries and sandalwood. The fleshy, round and delicious medium weight flavours possess both a beguiling texture but also solid depth and persistence. Also, my suggested drinking window (2035+) takes into account the large format bottling. 88-91/100, Burghound.
