Peter Maude Fine Wines

2018, Domaine A. -F. Gros, BEAUNE, 1er Cru, 'Les Boucherottes'

$98

Between Pommard and Beaune. Harvested early to keep freshness. Aromas of new leather, dark mixed berries and smoke. Medium to full bodied. Jo Charvill 20/05/19.

A shy nose requires swirling to coax the aromas of red and dark raspberry, earth and violet scents to reveal themselves. The delicious and vibrant medium weight flavours are generously proportioned while retaining good cut and punch, all wrapped in a sappy, complex and palate soaking finish. 90-92 Allen Meadows, The Burghound.

The 2018 Beaune Boucherottes 1er Cru has a lovely blackcurrant and raspberry bouquet with just a touch of vanilla emanating from the oak. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, soft and rounded with juicy red cherries and strawberry fruit on the finish. Very approachable. 89 Neal Martin, Vinous.
