Champagne Assailly-Leclaire & Fils
Champagne Assailly is planted exclusively in Chardonnay and is renowned for producing champagnes that display both wonderful freshness and finesse. This House is one of the prestigious flagship producers of the Côte des Blancs and over more than 100 years has played its part in elevating the high reputation of the commune . The vineyards are rich in limestone and chalky soils with an ideal southern exposure with a history of more than a century of top winemaking.
Founded in 1899, Assailly Leclaire ensure the sustainability of its operations respecting the values and traditions of their ancestors. Their Chardonnay-based white champagnes develop wonderful aromas which harmonise with wines that exude body and roundness. From their boutique vineyard holding they produce around 80,000 bottles per year or 6,500 to 7,000 cases Thirty per cent is exported, mainly to Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Italy, with a small allocation for New Zealand.
Quality is the focus of the House with just four cuvees produced, three of which are Blancs de Blanc. Currently stocked by PMFW are the exquisite Cuvée du Patron NV made from premier cru vines and the Cuvee Mongamin and Millesime 2011 which is Grand Cru.
